The ARIA Toolkit: An Interdisciplinary Curriculum to Optimize Team-Based Management of Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities in Alzheimer’s Disease
Due to the unique educational design of this course, the content must be viewed and completed on the ReachMD platform.
Program Description
The introduction of disease modifying amyloid targeting therapies for Alzheimer’s disease is creating a paradigm shift in the treatment of patients with this condition. But the potential for ARIA prompts several unique considerations over the course of therapy. This curriculum is designed to outline critical roles and best practices in ARIA identification and management across disciplines to prepare you to navigate real-world clinical scenarios.
Target Audience
Mastering ARIA Management: Charting the Path in a Virtual Clinic
An Overview of ARIA: A Multidisciplinary Crash Course for Baseline Clinical Needs
This activity is intended for AD specialists (neurologists, geriatric psychiatrists, geriatricians), radiologists, primary care clinicians, emergency medicine clinicians, nurses, physician associates and other healthcare professionals across these specialties involved in AD care to understand the definition, presentations, implications, and strategic solutions for ARIA as outlined by both individual and collaborative roles.
TIME OUT: A Case-Based Deep Dive into the Challenges of ARIA Management
This activity is intended for AD specialists (neurologists, geriatric psychiatrists, geriatricians), radiologists, emergency medicine clinicians, nurses, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals across these specialties involved in AD care to understand the definition, presentations, implications, and strategic solutions for ARIA as outlined by both individual and collaborative roles.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
Mastering ARIA Management: Charting the Path in a Virtual Clinic
- Recognize symptoms of amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) and determine appropriate next steps based on care setting and current recommendations
- Identify both proactive and reactive management strategies that have been employed for individual presentations of ARIA to maximize patient safety while minimizing therapeutic disruption
An Overview of ARIA: A Multidisciplinary Crash Course for Baseline Clinical Needs
- Outline optimal monitoring strategies for ARIA in all patients prescribed anti-Aβ mAbs, and any variations based on individual risk factors, to ensure ARIA is identified in a timely manner
- Recognize possible symptoms of ARIA and determine appropriate next steps based on care setting and current recommendations
- Identify vital elements of interdisciplinary communication and patient counseling regarding ARIA diagnosis and management to ensure safe, comprehensive, and consistent care in patients prescribed anti-Aβ mAbs
TIME OUT: A Case-Based Deep Dive into the Challenges of ARIA Management
- Recognize possible symptoms and differential diagnoses of ARIA and determine appropriate next steps based on care setting and current recommendations
- Recognize and differentiate key radiographic features of ARIA (e.g., type, severity) to accurately interpret imaging findings and properly diagnose ARIA
- Identify both proactive and reactive management strategies that have been employed for individual presentations of ARIA, to maximize patient safety while minimizing therapeutic disruption
