Needs Assessment: Assessing Knowledge And Performance Gaps Amongst Neurologists Caring For Patients with Excessive Daytime Sleepiness Secondary to Narcolepsy and/or Idiopathic Hypersomnia

In December 2020, Efficient distributed a survey to ascertain current practice patterns and knowledge of neurologists that manage but do not subspecialize in the care of sleep disorders. In particular, the survey was designed to evaluate neurologists’ approach to the assessment and management of patients with excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) secondary to narcolepsy and/or idiopathic hypersomnia (IH). Survey topics include:

  1. Distinguishing Key Features and Diagnostic Criteria of Narcolepsy and/or IH
  2. Appropriate Treatment of Narcolepsy and/or IH
  3. Knowledge and Use of Sodium Oxybate
  4. Familiarity with New Agents (e.g., pitolisant, solriamfetol, lower sodium oxybate)
